EMDR Consultation

“An EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training™ (CIT) can provide some of the consultation hours to EMDR trained clinicians who are working towards EMDR Certification requirements. In order to provide the 10 hours of consultation that are required to complete the EMDR basic training, the CIT must contact the EMDR training provider directly. Each EMDR training provider designates which EMDRIA Approved Consultants™ and/or CITs may provide consultation hours to the trainees in their program.”

“An EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training™ (CIT) can provide a maximum of 15 hours of consultation to an EMDR trained clinician who is working towards certification. EMDRIA Certification™ applicants must obtain 20 hours of consultation on their use of EMDR with clients. The remaining 5 hours of consultation must come from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™. Although a CIT can provide a letter of recommendation for the consultee seeking certification, a letter of recommendation from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ is required for EMDRIA Certification™ applicants.”

Lindsey offers individual EMDR consultation for therapists pursuing EMDR certification who are seeking thoughtful, case-driven support in their clinical work.

As an EMDR Consultant-in-Training, Lindsey’s consultation approach balances fidelity to the EMDR model with clinical style, critical thinking, and responsiveness to the therapist in front of me. She is deeply interested in how EMDR actually lives in the room, particularly with complex trauma presentations, parts work, and clients whose systems do not move neatly through protocol.

Consultation with Lindsey is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in real clinical decision-making rather than rigid adherence to checklists. Her goal is to help therapists

strengthen their conceptualization, increase confidence, and integrate EMDR in a way that is ethical, effective, and sustainable.

This service is a good fit for therapists who:

  • Are pursuing EMDR certification and require consultation hours
  • Work with cPTSD, complex trauma, or dissociative or parts-based systems
  • Want support maintaining EMDR fidelity while developing their own clinical style
  • Appreciate consultation that is both structured enough to meet requirements and flexible enough to follow the work
  • Value curiosity, clinical reasoning, and thoughtful pacing over pressure to “do it right”

What to expect from consultation with Lindsey

Consultation is primarily case-driven and relational, with enough structure to support progress toward certification while allowing space for depth, nuance, and questions that do not always have clean answers.Consultation is offered individually, either virtually in Iowa or in person in Urbandale for $100 an hour.

Sessions may include:

  • Case conceptualization through an EMDR and parts-informed lens
  • Support navigating blocked processing, looping, or complex presentations
  • Discussion of EMDR phases, targets, and clinical judgment
  • Attention to therapist experience, confidence, and clinical intuition

Important Notes

Consultation is provided in alignment with EMDRIA standards for certification while maintaining a thoughtful, flexible, and clinician-centered approach to the model. This service is currently offered by request.
